hi, I'm reporting a new tech-bug with multilingual support.
Apparently, an English user's profile is displayed in English even though a second language has loaded the display name: and does not suffer from this problem.

But I and millions more have for example Italian as the preference, and for example, the system prefers to show me the Arabic display name instead of the English fields.

Since this seemed to have been resolved recently, please take a look again to see if anything has been done in recent months:

{Ideally, the system should always display ENG unless the user's preferred language is present}

  English: Bey Eugenio Griffini (no display name)
  Arabic: (display name) غريفيني (does not show in my view, which it should in small letters)

  Tree view shows English.

  For me (language set to Dutch) it shows the display name in Arabic

  Thanks for the link. The profile is following the fallback rules for multilingual names. If a profile does not have a name in your chosen interface language, we’ll first check to see if there’s an English name. If so, that’s what you’ll see. Otherwise, we’ll choose the first available language to display. In this case, there is nothing in the display name field in English (default), but there is a value in Arabic. Thus, we show the display name in Arabic.

  If you want to see an English display name, then you will need to add it to the profile.

  Erica, since you are using the site in English (US), you will see the default English display name. Display names in other languages are not shown in smaller font.

  If you want to add the Arabic name to the profile, you may want to add the name in the appropriate name fields (first name, middle name, last name, birth surname). This will appear in smaller font below the name.

  after years, for a few months, a couple of months ago, the Arabic (or Russian, or Greek, or various hieroglyphics) display name field did not cover the ENG name fields in my italian, & in Dutch's @Job W. (special TNX for your confirmation:)
  
  and this was the best way to avoid freaking out every time a user with strange alphabets wanted to fill in the display name and AKA fields in their language, without making exotic medieval characters appear who had nothing to do with such remote areas.

  I know it would be better to wait to absorb the latest message without putting too much on the table.
  (because the fact that a display name covers the default ENG language of all non-ENG languages ​​must be corrected in any case.)

  But a few hours ago my little head came up with an interesting idea (privately, according to Erica, too):

  In the name preferences, not just 1 language to choose from, but 2, but even 3!

  Not so much for us Italians, as subjugated colonists... (don't get me started :)

  More than anything, I was thinking of the former Vikings of Northern Europe, where if there's no Dutch, or Danish, or Finnish... well, the system will force me to choose English first.
