Im new and why should I bother entering people when theres nowhere to record birth/death dates!!!!!!!! Already could not download my gedcom! I have a HUGE tree and you are missing out on anything I can add to your site. NO WAY CAN I MANUALLY ENTER EVERYONE! Totally disappointed in this site as it had a great recamendation. Probably wont come back!!!!!!!

Geni Support Team Hi Jane, you can add birth/death dates to profiles in your tree. Simply click "Edit Profile" on the person's profile page or click on the edit icon on the person's node in the tree.

- Which profile are you trying to edit?
- Are you trying to edit from the profile page or from the tree?
- Are you using the Flash or HTML version of the tree?
- What browser/version are you using?

Maarten Jan van Stokkum I am a different user. This help answer is no answer, really.
I have the same problem: it is impossible to complete my date of birth. I 'edit profile' and fill in the day of the month in front of the month. Then I click to save and the date vanishes, and this time after time. So, the profile is incomplete.
Another problem with my education : the end date does not show, it is the starting date - I am not that quick, in fact it took - as normal - 3 years. Please update. this website does not work nicely or smooth. (Not with my up-to-date iMac anyway.

Geni Support Team Hi Maarten, thanks for providing an explanation of the steps you took so that we could better assist you with this issue. We see that your input date format settings on your account is MM DD YYYY instead of DD MM YYYY.
A warning should have appeared to alert you of an invalid date. However, we seem to be saving it instead. As we work on getting that fixed, you may want to update your date format to DD MM YYYY in your localization settings https://www.geni.com/account_settings/localization and then try entering your birth date again.
For education events, only one event is created in the timeline marking the start of the event. If an end date is included, you will see that displayed on the same event, as seen in this screenshot:

Liliana Cohen I am unable to add deceased date, no such thing under actions- tried many times. I have free account. There is no profile manager on my mom's account.

Geni Support Team Hi Lilliana, we're sorry to hear of your family's loss. Since your mother had claimed her account with her email address, you will need to report her profile as Deceased via the Actions button.
- Click the 'Actions' button on her profile
- Select 'Report'
- Then choose 'Deceased' from the drop down and leave a comment stating her death date or a link to an obituary.
Once our customer service team receives the report, we will be able to assist with unclaiming her account.

Lily Poulson I can't add a date of death either. My cousin had claimed her own geni profile so I notified Geni and they emailed to say I now have management of her account. I have tried numerous times to add date of death, and there's no way. I tried clicking on "report" again, and it says, "already reported". I would think Geni would realize that this is a PROBLEM, and allow users to update the information. I got a 2nd email from Geni telling me to report her as deceased, but I've done that!

Geni Support Team Lily, we were able to locate the Deceased report for your relative. We see that it came in over the weekend, so it would not have been resolved until the next business day.
Note we have unclaimed your relative's account, so you may now update it to reflect their passing.
