Over the weekend our site came under an unusually high volume of automated traffic that put significant strain on our systems. In response, our security protections automatically kicked into a higher gear to keep the site stable and protected. Unfortunately, this caused those protections to apply a bit too broadly, which is why real users like you were caught in the middle and asked to verify repeatedly.
The abnormal traffic has subsided, and our security settings have since returned to normal. You should no longer be seeing repeated "Are you human?" prompts. While we can't guarantee that our systems will never need to respond this way again in the future (since it depends on factors outside our control), we can say that the current situation appears to have been resolved.
Our team continues to actively monitor the situation to make sure things stay on track. If you run into this problem again, please don't hesitate to reach out to us at security@geni.com . Thanks again for your patience, and we're sorry for the inconvenience. -

Geni Support Team Unfortunately the high volume of automated traffic returned over the weekend, resulting in our firewall triggering its "denial of service" response. We believe this was responsible for the message you saw and should have been temporary. If it's still happening, please email us at security@geni.com so we can further investigate the problem. Please copy and paste any error message you are getting (especially the lines that say "Your IP" and "Incident ID" so that we can diagnose the problem.

Pekka Neva As July 9th 2026 this problem continues !!
Today the 1st occurrence of the "[ X ] I am human" query caused something to break so that the About field was not rendered. Not only in that particular profile but in all profiles that I tried to open or refresh.
After restarting the browser all those profiles whose About fields I had saved after that 1st event (and before restarting the browser) where either in edit mode (for the other fields of the profile) or showing "[ X ] I am human" query. I have maybe 200 profiles open!
Please FIX THIS ASAP !!!

In about 20 minutes the browser restarted again and once again I am either in edit mode (not real as first save does not close the edit mode, only the 2nd save returns to display mode) or telling "[ X ] I am human"
Frustrating !!!
