Jeff
Did you select the right group for the matches?
I think so. At my merge center, I show 2 tree matches under the 'my relatives' tabs.

But, when I click on the tree matches, there are no matches.

Am I missing something?
Jeff
Not sure, could you try the other groups?
What are you considering other 'groups'?
It shows that I have 2 tree matches in the 'my relatives' group. But, when I select the tree matches tab, there are no matches. I am thinking just a glitch in the software.
Yes, that could be. It could also be your browser caching some old info.
I have cleared the browser a few times since first see this error.
If you knew the profile you could refresh the matches for that profile using the yellow marked icon
I have no idea who the profile is. How would I know? Do you mean the yellow triangle for inconsenticies?
FYI - the issue shows up when using Firefox or Safari browsers, it does not when using Chrome.
I was afraid you would not know the profile. Sometimes Geni will mail you when it thinks there is a duplicate, but that depends on what you have chosen on https://www.geni.com/account_settings/notifications
You might try https://www.geni.com/clear_cookies (you'll have to log in again after that), but I don't think that will help.
I'm sorry but I really do not known what else you could try.
OK, the tree match error shows up regardless of what browser I am using. Just did the clear-cookies and error install there. This is something that can be forwarded to the expert techie group as a challenge for them to fix. Thanks for your help.
Another question - what exactly is the merge request/data conflict approval process? How does it work? I have not been able to get a clear picture of it.
It is a bit complicated to explain in a few lines.
A basic user can only merge profiles he/she manages or a profile that is managed by a collaborator. So when there are duplicates a merge request has to be done. For a private profile a merge request must be done even when the other user is a Pro user.
When profiles are merged there are two possible kinds of conflicts: Tree conflicts are a conflict in relations and are indicated on the profile.
Data conflicts are conflicts in the field values. those are less visible. You can see there are data conflicts from the Actions menu of the profile and you can also see them in the Merge Center.
Those you yourself created you can see with https://www.geni.com/list/data_conflicts?order=&direction=&filter=&collection=updated
There is some help info on Geni that might help:

Thank you for all of this. As I get more involved with GENI, I run into more tings that don't make sense and I have not had the best of luck finding the answers on the self help page.. I don't think I am asking the right questions.
I will look at what you sent me - again thanks.
I am off to grill fish for the incoming family and in-laws. I hope you are able to enjoy the holiday weekend.
Jeff
Hi Jeff, are you still experiencing this issue? We checked your Merge Center on both Firefox and Safari and was unable to reproduce this.
Earlier today - yes, the issue was still there. But, I just checked and the issue is gone. Magic? I will check again tomorrow and get back with you.
Jeff
Just checked this morning as the issue seems to have been resolved.
Thanks for the help, Jeff
Hi Jeff, can you provide a screenshot?
